Keeping the Stories Alive

Portaferry Sailing Club is associated with the highly successful Portaferry Recreational Hub.One of its missions is to ensure intergenerational transmission of sailing knowledge and stories. For the project 'Stories of the Shore', see here.

Boat Building and SailingPortaferry has a strong history of boat building since merchant times and before.

One enterprise was the design and building of the Ruffian class. Many Ruffian 23s are still sailed in Strangford Lough, Dublin Bay, Carrickfergus, Hong Kong and other locations.

Read about this rich sailing heritage in articles written here (written by Billy Brown), and here (Afloat magazine).
